True to my usual self, I came out to my parents with a terrible joke.

I was raised in a Presbyterian household in Charleston, SC, so you can imagine how well this went over. Or maybe over their heads. Mostly, my parents just seemed to misunderstand my grand proclamation.

I talk more and more about my experience as an asexual person these days, and I’ve been asked often why I would bother.
