An Actual Email I Sent To My Professor
Because this term’s e-textbook is completely pathetic, like me.
Preface: I won’t cite the e-textbook I’ve been studying for my Associates in Hospitality Management course. It’s about the same as any other, if I’m honest. I’ve studied a lot of them. But the way it dives into ethics in the middle of the first chapter really rubbed me the wrong way, as you will see. It’s one of the fundamentals, and everyone should take it seriously — in or outside of this industry. Tragically, in my experience, this is not them norm.
The email, itself, started off in my mind as the minimum three-sentence qualification for a paragraph. Just my initial thoughts to how shallow the text sounded in my mind, especially when coupled with periodic 2-question “quizzes” mid-reading to make sure you were paying attention.
But then words started to flow.
And they wouldn’t stop.
I found myself word-vomiting on my teacher, and couldn’t think of stopping. After all, it was nothing but the truth, and I think it deserves to be said. Every word of it.
And yes, I did send this whole thing, unabridged and unedited, to my teacher/advisor in Hospitality Management. I just copy and pasted it all right here. Several times, I thought briefly of paring it down to a rather long paragraph, for the…
